Welcome
Welcome to the Chief Joseph Family! I wanted to take a chance to introduce myself. My name is Amber Smith-Boggs. I am the School Counselor at Chief Joseph. As a School Counselor, my primary responsibility is to promote the academic, personal, and social development of all students.
As the counselor, I have the privilege to work with every student in the school. I work with students at the classroom, small group, and individual level. I am also able to meet with parents, collaborate with teachers and staff, and provide you with information to outside agencies.
Classroom guidance lessons are presented in the classroom for all students grades K-6. Lessons will teach developmentally appropriate, preventative lessons to all students.
Group counseling can be provided for small groups of students experiencing similar concerns. This may include making and keeping friends, anger management, coping with separation/divorce and loss, getting organized/study skills, and/or improving self-esteem. The groups generally range from 4-6 students, and last anywhere from 4-6 sessions. The students for these groups can be recommended by parents/guardians, or by staff members.
Individual counseling is short term one-on-one counseling support available to all students in grades K-6. Any student can request to meet with me or they can be referred by a teacher, administrator, or parent. I encourage you to reach out if you have concerns regarding your child. What students talk about with me is confidential, unless they are hurting themselves, someone is hurting them, or they plan to hurt someone else.
I am here for all students and want to ensure that your child has a productive and positive school year. If I can support your child in anyway, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
I am also in charge of our school’s food pantry. If you are in need of food, clothing, etc. Please reach out to me!
I look forward to getting to know you and your children!
Kindest regards,
Amber Smith-Boggs
